1. Information We Collect
We collect information you provide directly to us, including:
- Account information: name, email address, and password when you create an account
- Profile preferences: work function, preferred name, and response preferences you set in Settings
- Financial data you enter: budget figures, income, and expense information submitted for analysis
- Uploaded documents: bank statements and financial documents you upload for analysis (these are processed and discarded — never stored)
- Conversation history: messages you send to and receive from the Finance Assistant, saved to provide continuity across sessions
- Financial context snapshots: summaries of your budget scores, portfolio risk tier, and spending patterns saved to personalize AI responses
- Support messages: messages you send through the Help & Support page
- Usage data: features used, session timestamps, and interaction patterns collected automatically
2. How We Use Your Information
- To provide, maintain, and improve the Service
- To personalize AI responses based on your financial history and preferences
- To authenticate your account and maintain security
- To respond to your support requests
- To analyze aggregated usage patterns and improve our product
- To comply with legal obligations
3. Data Sharing
We do not sell your personal data. We share data only in these limited circumstances:
- Service providers: We share data with vendors who help us operate the Service (Supabase, Anthropic, Alpha Vantage, Plaid). These providers are contractually prohibited from using your data for their own purposes.
- Business transfers: If MoneyMap101 is acquired or merges with another company, your data may be transferred as part of that transaction.
- Legal requirements: We may disclose data when required by law or to protect rights and safety.
4. Your Rights and Opt-Out
You have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you
- Correct inaccurate data via the Settings page
- Delete your account and all associated data
- Object to or restrict certain processing of your data
- Data portability where technically feasible
We will honor opt-out requests within 30 days. Opting out will not affect your ability to use the Service.
5. Financial Document Handling
When you upload bank statements or other financial documents for analysis:
- Documents are read in your browser and sent directly to our AI processor
- Document content is never stored on our servers
- Extracted insights and scores are stored to personalize future responses
- You can delete your account at any time to remove all stored data
6. Conversation History
Messages you exchange with the Finance Assistant are saved to our database to allow you to view past conversations and to provide the AI with relevant context. This data is associated with your account and protected by row-level security. You can delete individual conversations from the chat interface, or delete your account to remove all conversation data permanently.
7. Third-Party Services
We use the following third-party services to operate MoneyMap101:
- Supabase: Authentication and database storage (supabase.com)
- Anthropic: AI analysis and chat responses (anthropic.com)
- Finnhub: Stock market data (finnhub.io)
Each of these providers has their own privacy practices. We encourage you to review their policies.
8. Data Storage and Security
Your data is stored in Supabase with row-level security policies ensuring you can only access your own data. We use industry-standard encryption for data in transit and at rest. However, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure.
9. Data Retention
We retain your data for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account, all associated data — including profile information, financial history, conversation history, and portfolio recommendations — is permanently deleted within 30 days.
10. Cookies and Local Storage
We use browser local storage to save your UI preferences (theme, language, font). Authentication session data is stored in secure cookies managed by Supabase. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies.
11. Children's Privacy
MoneyMap101 is not directed to children under 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
12. California Privacy Rights (CCPA)
If you are a California resident, you have the right to:
- Know what personal information is collected about you
- Access your personal information
- Request deletion of your personal information
- Not be discriminated against for exercising your privacy rights

13. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy periodically. We will notify you of significant changes by updating the "Last updated" date. Continued use of the Service constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
